Stephen Winterhalder - Commercial Strategy and Buying

Stephen began his career with ASDA fulfilling various buying and merchandising roles with responsibility for merchandise categories including frozen poultry, chilled fish and various dairy products.  He then moved to ParknShop, Hong Kong’s largest retailer where his roles included Buying & Marketing Director and Trading Director.

During his time at ParknShop Stephen managed the launch of a new, purpose built Fresh Food distribution and production centre. He also led a major strategic review that repositioned the group as a superstore operator with a focus on fresh food.  Stephen successfully implemented category management and launched "Pricewatch" to address price competitiveness, increasing market share from 29% to 42% over a 3-year period.  As part of the Retail Innovations team, Stephen can offer skills in new strategy and business planning, retail operations, e-business solutions, merchandising, product management and interim management.
